Nymburk is the town of the composer Bohuslav Matěj Černohorský. It is in his honour that an international music festival is held here every year. However, Černohorský is not the only one whose name is associated with the town. Božena Němcová, Jan Neruda and Bohumil Hrabal also spent part of their lives here.
If we talk about this great novelist, we must not forget to mention the Nymburk Brewery, which you know from Postřižin. However, the town also offers a number of other industrial monuments. If you are a lover of older architecture, you will appreciate the Chapel of St. John of Nepomuk or the dominant feature of the town in the form of St. Jilja's Cathedral.
A visit to the town will be perfectly complemented by tasting delicious dishes from local restaurants and pastry shops. Your heart (and tongues) will also be delighted by sausages from the home smokehouse or Kerská limonáda.
